MC Eiht – “Compton Zoo” f. DJ Premier (Video)
With over two decades in the game, MC Eiht has nothing else to prove. But that doesn’t mean the West Coaster still doesn’t have things to get off his chest. On June 30th, Eiht will continue his journey with the release of his thirteenth studio album, Which Way Iz West.
Hit first solo effort in eleven years, MC Eiht—who recently put an end to his vicious feud with DJ Quik with an appearance on his and Problem‘s “Central Ave“—has already shared “Represent Like This” with WC and DJ Premier, and “Runn the Blocc” with MayLay. And today, he’s back with another taste in “Compton Zoo,” which finds the native spitter unloading rhymes about his dealings in the game and the current state of rap. DJ Premier (the album’s Executive Producer) also contributes with some signature scratches.
“‘Compton Zoo’ signifies the struggle in and out of music and how I feel about the current state of hip-hop,” Eiht told Vibe. “Just like Preemo digs deep into them crates for the scratch chorus, I can still express myself and dig deep as well.”
Check out the Brenk Sinatra-laced cut below and be sure to pre-order Which Way Iz West on iTunes before it’s June 30 release. The album is also set to feature B-Real (who is celebrating his birthday today), Kurupt, The Outlawz, his Compton’s Most Wanted crew, and more.
